Fork Truck Operator Training Course
The dangers associated with use of lift trucks in the workplace are often underestimated. Employees working with or around them often become complacent because lift trucks are quiet, busy, in frequent use and part of the environment. However, incidents involving lift trucks are usually serious and often fatal. (HSA).
Course Objective:
Fork Truck Training is designed for new and experienced fork truck operators, who wish to gain certification or update their previous skills and renew their certification. In-house courses are provided for employees who manage, supervise or operate fork trucks.
At the end of the training course participants should have the ability to operate safely and know the capability of a counter balance Forklift, to assess tasks, and operate in a fashion that will:
* Prevent injury to the operator or any other person
* Not damage any material, structure or vehicles in the area of operation
* Be able to conduct a pre-shift check on a counter balance forklift and report any defect found
Course content:
* Legislation
* Forklift Risk assessment communicated and signed off.
* Safety responsibilities of an operator
* Pre-shift inspection of a forklift truck
* Forklift Stability
* Battery care for battery powered or refuelling for diesel or gas powered
* Safe operation of a forklift truck: – Load handling – Racking systems – Irregular loads – Vehicle loading – Weight assessment – Theory and practical assessment
Assessment:
Short written test and skills demonstration.
Certification:
Certified by TK training after successful completion of fork truck training and assessments.
Participants: Maximum 4
