Abrasive wheel training

This course is aimed at anyone who uses abrasive wheels or employs people who use abrasive wheels as part of their work.

This training is required under legislation. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (Section 2 covers competency and demands training for all such activities) and The Safety in Industry Act 1982 (Schedule No. 30 (Abrasive Wheels) places an obligation on all employers where Abrasive Wheels are in use, to ensure that only trained, competent and appointed personnel mount the appropriate wheels in the machines.

Course Objectives:

To instruct participants in mounting, operation, handling and storage of abrasive wheels
To demonstrate to participants the use of an abrasive wheel in a practical demonstration.

Course Content:

  • Legislation
  • Hazard Identification
  • Evaluating causes of abrasive wheel injuries / accidents
  • Selecting & Mounting
  • Guarding the grinder / cutting machines
  • Dressing & turning the wheel
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Courses are delivered by a fully qualified abrasive wheel Instructor.

The course is split between theory and practical.

Assessment:

Short written test and skills demonstration.

Course Duration: 3 hours

 

Certification:

Certified by TK Training after successful completion of abrasive wheel training and assessments.  Certificate valid for 3 years.
